Hair Yarning!!

Wednesday Night at Youth Group we did a Glow Stick Night, it was a lot of fun. The whole service was done in black light, everyone had glow sticks. This was a must do for youth or kidmin or even a birthday party. I will post more on that later. First, we had to dress up!! I wanted to do something fun with my hair that would glow in the black light. I thought about hair chalking but I really didn't have time to do that. So I opted for Hair yarning? Not sure if that's a word, but I just made it one!!!

So to start out I cut 8 pieces (I suggest using more 13-14, but I didn't have a lot of time) of yarn double the length of my hair, plus an inch extra. I then tied half my hair on top of my head, from just above the ears and up. I then tied the yarn in my hair, using a simple double knot. When you are finished your hair should look like this....

If you have fine hair, tease the hair below the yarn to help it hold.

Pull your hair to one side, hiding the yarn, and braid. I chose to do a fishtail braid. Each time you grab a section of hair make sure to grab a piece of yarn. After braiding, go back and loosen the braid and pull some of the yarn to the top. Cut off the extra yarn at the ends to be the same length of your hair.

Finished look.

Another view, to add a bit of fun wrap a piece of yarn to hide the rubber band.

How fun would this look be for cheerleaders? You could use any color or colors, maybe school colors??

For a bit of fun here was babies glow night outfit,

To match me I wrapped ribbon around her pony.

Here's baby glowing!!!

Will you try hair yarning?? Want to try Hair chalking again, here is my previous post.

I will be posting later about how we made glow stick night happen.
