An Ode to the Super Mom

Some days as a mom you feel like a failure, or question your every move. I have even had moments where I have doubted any ability I have to be a mom. I am pretty sure a few things I am doing I will traumatize her for the rest of their life, or a a least require expensive amounts of counseling.

It's days like these that it is hard to remind myself; that with God all things are possible. Even the impossible job that feels like parenting. Or even that I am made to be more than a conqueror, I am fearfully and wonderfully made (that's for the days I can't remember if I brushed my teeth or that all the clothes I am wearing have miscellaneous stains). So, this is an ode to those days where life just keeps spinning.

Super Mom!

The women who can accomplish any job while holding a baby.
Including cook, eat, and clean up a whole entire meal.
Whose super powers include super hearing, including knowing when a toddler is too quiet.
Being able to function on little to NO sleep and a few sips of coffee.
So kind hearted to share the above coffee, and all other needed treats.
The lady with eyes all around her head to spot the child sliding backwards down the slide and the other one about to flip off a swing.
Another super power of super speed for when any child tries to run the opposite way of mom.
Negotiating skills to calm an unreasonable threenager into eating broccoli even if it's only one bite.
The woman who can heal with a gentle kiss and dry some tears with kind words and a hug.
One who can navigate a crazy tornado of toys to spot the little much needed binky.
Finally, the lady who can rock spit up on her shoulder like no other!

I know there is so much more I can hit on and that is just a few things that we do on a daily basis. Just remember you are amazing and you rock!!

Have a great mother's day week! Use those super powers!!

One Piece Three Ways

Guess What!!! I found my camera! I am so happy, I get to finally share this post with you.

One of fall's biggest trends is the baseball tee. I personally love the comfort of this top. A hint to keep this top comfortable, shop in the men's department. I found mine at Target in the Men's section, I love how it is a little looser and doesn't hug me so tight. This tee can come across as a basic jeans, tee, and flip flop look. I wanted to find some stylish ways to rock this look. Here is my new series called one piece, three ways.

The first night I wore this on a date to the movies and dinner with my husband.

How I rocked the baseball tee on date night: Faux leather leggings, cute flats, long tank underneath (since leggings are not pants!). I paired it with a big bag and boyfriend jacket. My hair is in a braided top knot. I chose statement earrings and stacked bracelets as accessories.

This is probably one of my favorites! I chose a flared skirt, kept my hair down and curly. I also added a statement necklace and nude heels. I wore this to church it's a great dressy casual outfit and would work in an office setting.

After church I chose to change into this to run some errands. Great outfit for shopping!! I paired it with jeans, rolling the cuffs up to make them ankle length. Black tennies, printed scarf and a statement ring finished this look.

This has turned out to be one of my favorite pieces this fall. Have you rocked the baseball tee? Send me pictures at mommyministryandmore@gmail.com

Do you like one piece three way? I have a couple more I am thinking of posting. Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,

How I dressed the bump

I thought it would be fun to show you how I dress this baby bump every once in awhile.

This was last Sunday. Mondo and I went to the first service and then Chipotle afterwards for lunch Yum! We also went to Babies R' Us to check out some double strollers. This is the one I want!

After all that we drove around town to check out some houses, then home for a nap and pizza. Over all it was a great day. I loved spending time with my little family!!

Knowing all our plans for the day and it being another hot one, I wanted to dress comfortably. So, jean shorts, hi-lo top and a cute hat did the trick. I also styled this with some faux toms and a cute owl necklace.  I stayed cool and comfortable.

Talk to you soon!!

Valentine's day fashion

If you are anything like me you have been thinking, dreaming and scouring Pinterest for a Valentine day outfit for a few months now. Okay maybe not that long but at least a week or two. No? Just me? Well, here are two ideas I came up with.

First one is casual and since Valentines is on a Friday, maybe even appropriate for the office.

This is a heart sweater I got from old navy paired with a chambray shirt underneath. Some skinnies and cute flats. This outfit is so pinterest inspired I wore this the other day while we were shopping for Valentine's day gifts.

To finish the look I pulled my hair in a top knot as seen done in my black Friday hair blog. I also added a gold boyfriend watch and a cute love double ring not pictured. All ready and super comfy.

Look two is not from my own closet. Last week while shopping I found this super cute faux leather skirt on clearance at JcPenny. unfortunately they were out of my size (insert tears here), even online!! I have been dreaming visions of that skirt and outfits since that day. Here is an outfit inspired by that skirt.

This skirt closely resembles it and is on sale!! Here!
I would pair this with a men's v neck plain white tee, and either cute pink flats (let's face it I am a mom heels are not always practical) or red heels. A big statement necklace and my hair in the perfect pony. Here is a link for the best tutorial on the perfect pony. I love how this outfit is a little tough for such a sweet holiday!

I think Valentine's Day calls for pink or red somewhere on your outfit. I will be at work Friday night, so I plan on rocking a red long sleeve shirt and some jeans. Have a great day!!

Heart Ponders

Here are a few things that have been on my mind the past few weeks.

1. Prayer. I have been feeling a calling and drawing to spend more time in prayer. Not just my fleeting one sided conversations that go on through the day but, to sit at His feet and hear Him speak to my heart. The books by E.M. Bounds have been fueling this desire. With it has come a hunger for His Word. I know that He speaks to us through His Word so, I am constantly reading it, I started a one year bible study in my logos app. I no longer listen to the radio but instead sermons and teachings. I desire to be a true prayer warrior, like in the bible the ones Kings called on to get their prayers answered.

2. Thanksgiving. I got the book 1,000 gifts for Christmas. I am only half way through but, it is about one woman's journey seeking Thankfulness. I have started my list of 1,000 things. Every night I write down 3 and reflect on the day. I thank Him for the day He has given me! Did you know before each miracle Jesus gave thanks! Thanks is the answer to our troubles!

3. Worries. My mom has always told me I was great at the what if game. As I grew I got better! Although no one wins at the What if game, God reminded me that my worries are lack of Faith in Him. So, I remind myself not to worry for God is good!

4. Being a woman. This fueled by the women's tea I am speaking at, at end of February. I want to be the Woman God has called me to be! I am woman hear me Roar! I have special giftings and talents only a woman can use. I want to use those to better my family, this world and to spread His love.

These are few of the things my heart has been pondering and I wanted to share them with you. What are your heart's ponders?

Next week Valentine goodies!!

apparently Max likes fritos and pb!

OOTD: Birthday dinner

So, I turned thirty on Monday. Yup, you read that right the 3-0h! Unlike most people I am unashamed of my age. To me it truly is a number. Although a few things have really began to sink in such as I really am not college age anymore and I shouldn't try to pass off as if I am. Also, when you ask kids what is old, yes, I am the age that most of them answer. I also feel like I have hit the age where I can say "when I was younger we didn't have internet" (totally true!!). So, to celebrate I invited family out for dinner at a local buffet. Saturday I am having an adult scavenger hunt with some friends. What I wore to dinner I felt was totally blogworthy. Oh, and same with Max's outfit. Here is my Outfit of the Day (OOTD).

My theme for both birthday parties was; "Sparkle and Shine". So my outfit needed some glitter!! I chose to wear it on my arm and around my waist.

Here is a tip: if you like the look of stacked bracelets but don't have a lot of bangles. Add a watch to give some weight to the look.

This outfit was great with out the belt but at last minute I decided to add it. I think it really dressed up a simple outfit!!

Mackenzie's outfit was too cute!!! I love her "LBD"!!

I will blog more about my big 3 - oh party later!!

Yup, I am that old,

For the love of all things Chalkboard

I have become obsessed with chalkboards!!! I am not sure why and I think I may need to join a anonymous group for support for my obsessiveness. I even have a pinterest board dedicated to it!!!  Mondo has supported me in my love of chalkboards and is even willing to buy me one. Problem is I want to create a custom one and need to find the perfect picture frame. I have been scouring the thrift stores in hunt for it and have yet to find it.

I do like the chalkboard prints although, I like the idea of changing a chalkboard on a whim. A blogger that I follow does do a few chalkboard prints, you can visit her etsy shop here. Currently she has a coupon code COUSINEDDIE for 30% off your order. Finding some inspiration from her I created my own.

These are quotes from our amazing Pastor. Every week he has a quote that has inspired my own hashtag #joshbinglequotes and my designing of these chalk prints. I thought I would share them with you.

This one was from this last week. He has been teaching on the fruits of the spirit as of lately and this last week was on goodness.
From over the summer. Pastor Josh was talking on being confident in the goodness of our God and trusting Him to make a way when there seems to be none.
Love this one! On his current series the fruits of the spirit, kindness. He talked about how kindness can make a bridge for people.
This one is my FAVORITE!! Again, on his current series he talked about finding peace in every situation.

Have you got on the chalkboard band wagon?

I promise later this week to continue with the regular blogging schedule. To bring in the festive spirit I will share with you my favorite holiday wear, for baby and mom!

My name is Dorinda and I love Chalkboards

2 Easy Scary Costumes (that are not so scary)

Monday at Mackenzie's gymnastics class it was dress up day! Mackenzie wore black leggings, red and black tutu, and a white long sleeve shirt. She was either Minnie Mouse or a ladybug I couldn't decide (and I forgot a picture). I decided against her wearing her fox costume (I know big surprise Mackenzie is a fox for halloween!) due to the fact that it is fleece and bulky, I thought that would be difficult to wear during gymnastics. Anyways, I thought I would be the "cool" mom and dress up with her, to my surprise I was the only mom that did! Since I was missing a small piece of my costume I decided last minute on what to dress up as, my actual halloween costume was just as simple. I thought this would make a great post because some of you might have decided last minute you wanted to dress up or you got a last minute invite to a costume party. I hope these help you out.

1. Scarecrow

Most of this costume is in the makeup. I used coral lipstick on my cheeks and my nose, and a light pink on my lips. I them took a black eyeliner outlined my cheeks and nose and added a stitched smile. Next I lined my eyes using black and did 3 small triangles under my bottom lashes. Applied mascara and face was done. For clothing put on a plaid shirt, jeans, boots and add a straw hat. Viola, a very cute scarecrow.

2. Cat

This one was all in the hair. I found this super cute video on youtube of how to do braided cat ears (see the video here). For my makeup I did bright red lips and added a little flip with my eyeliner to make a cat eye. I also used a black eyeliner to draw a heart shape on my nose and add whiskers. For outfit I opted to go sans tail, I wore black faux leggings, black long sleeve tee, and black flats. To dress this up you could wear a lbd and some black heels. Super cute!!

I hope these super easy, super cute costumes help you out. Here is Mackenzie helping me carve our minnie mouse pumpkin. Enjoy!!

Happy Halloween,
Dorinda
